San Diego BFT 60-80lb Outfit

The blank I'm using is actually a 2-piece. I've also cut down the butt end by 6-inches to shorten it from 7'6 to 7'0. Thus, the foregrip overlaps the joining section. This creates a reaming problem where there's a step difference between the front half of the grip (14.9mm OD) and the rear half (17.7mm OD). I'm thinking I ream first to fit the front part of the blank with a thinner reaming tool, then taking a thicker reamer and running through only up until the step change. Then, epoxy can fill any remaining gaps. Only annoying thing is that I have to go to the hardware store to put together 2 separate reaming tools.

Using a Fuji PSS Standard Palm Support casting reel seat for added comfort during heavy jigging. I don't have a winding check, so epoxying the reel seat directly up against the ALPS rear grip. As you can see in the first photo the reel seat has a wider inner diameter at the rear end, so the arbors are slightly different diameters themselves. Added 3 arbors. Always be sure to apply masking tape to the reel seat threads so epoxy doesn't gunk it up.

Got a bit caught up in stuff... 5 months late here, but finally epoxied the rear grip on. I'm using an ALPS slick butt (hard nylon) given the constant rod holder use on the San Diego boats. Used the pro paste 2 part epoxy resin, was great. Got a ton of epoxy on the hands and had to pour isopropyl over them to get the epoxy off. Had a bunch of cuts on my hands. Not as great.

Building arbors currently to support the grip. Rear grip is nylon and hard so need extra support.
